A game by Reiner Kizia

Introducing ARQUIMEDES, a card game I worked on with publisher Adoleta Jogos. Archimedes is a game that teaches basic mathematical operations to children. It was exciting to draw legendary people from the mathematical universe, such as Katherine Johnson, Ada Lovelace, Alan Turing and Bhaskara!
A special detail is that the game design was created by another legend: Reiner Knizia, creator of more than 800 published games.

Arquimedes was a selected project at the 14th Bienal Brasileira de Design - ADG Brasil (biggest design show in Brasil), receiving a trophy and a highlight in the 'Magic Circle' category.
List of mathematicians by card number
13. Arquimedes de Siracusa (287 A.C., Italy) *
12. Hypatia (350-370, Egypt)
11. Mohammed ibn Musa Al-Khwarizmi (780, Khwarazm)
10. Bhaskara Akaria (1114, India)
9. Émilie du Châtelet (1706, France)
8. Ada Lovelace (1815, England)
7. Sofia Kovalevskaya (1850, Russia)
6. Emmy Noether (1882, Germany)
5. Euclides Roxo (1890, Brasil)
4. Malba Tahan (Júlio César de Melo e Sousa) (1895, Brasil)
3. Alan Turing (1912, England)
2. Zoltán Pál Dienes (1916, Hungary)
1. Katherine Coleman Goble Johnson (1918, USA)

Each mathematician has his biography on the back of the card, written by a historian.

*An extra 13 card was made in honor of the game's creator, Reiner Knizia (Germany), who is also a mathematician.
Here are some process sketches.
Enter new mathematicians!
After Arquimedes was published in Brazil, it was published in Poland and Germany. Each publisher asked for some new characters. The polish publisher asked for Stefan Banach and Wacław Sierpiński and the german wnt with Leonhard Euler, Carl Friedrich Gauss and Euclid.
